  • Betsy Cusumano

    FOUNDER & PRESIDENT

    Betsy Cusumano is a compassionate educator and advocate for survivors of suicide loss. A graduate of Colgate University followed by a Masters of Education from LeMoyne College, she has worked in the public school system as a high school Social Studies Teacher for over two decades. As the President of the CUS Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting those affected by the unexpected aftermath of suicide, she tirelessly works to provide comfort, resources, and healing opportunities for individuals and families going through this devastating experience.

  • Charlie Falgiatano

    VICE PRESIDENT

    Charlie, a lifelong resident of Syracuse, first met Tom in grade school and became good friends with him in at Bishop Grimes High School. Charlie earned law degree from Syracuse University. He is currently a partner at the DeFrancisco & Falgiatano Law Firm. Charlie has coached high school basketball for almost 30 years and serves as Vice President on the Board of Directors at Bishop Grimes. Most important to Charlie are his wife, Colleen, and their three children –Anthony, Sarah, and Vincent. He in humbled to be asked to be the Vice President of the CUS Foundation.

  • Sam Capilli

    TREASURER

    Sam, a life long resident of Syracuse, NY, lives with his wife, Nicole and their two children, Jack & Bianca. He is a former Corporate CFO and now works in the Wealth Advising industry. Proud to call Tom & Betsy Cusumano lifelong best friends for over 35 years, he is “proud and honored to serve on the Board supporting an underserved cause and most importantly, supporting the memory of the great man, best friend, and brother, Tom was.”

  • Jenny Sgroi

    SECRETARY

    Jenny, a lifelong resident of Syracuse, NY has been married for over 26 years & has 3 children. She is a graduate of Syracuse University & works at Bishop Grimes Jr/Sr High School in the Office of Academic Affairs. Jenny and Betsy met as cheerleaders at Henninger High School and became fast friends. A few days after meeting who would be her future husband, Frank, she met Tom, who soon became one of her best friends. The four them soon became inseparable. They may not be blood related but are family, forever.

  • Kate Truppi

    BOARD MEMBER

    Kate lives in Milford, MA with her husband, Mike, and Boston Terrier, Charlie. She works at WGBH Educational Foundation and holds a Master’s degree from Boston University in Arts Administration. Kate had the privilege of being one of Tom Cusumano’s many cousins and is honored to serve on the board of the CUS Foundation, helping Betsy provide support to those in need and fill a gap in mental health care.

  • Jennifer Meyers

    BOARD MEMBER

    Jennifer is a lifelong resident of Central New York. She has been a practicing School Psychologist since 2001 and has worked for the Phoenix Central School District since 2004. She grew up within the Squadrito/Cusumano households and Tom Cusumano was a close cousin. She is honored to serve on the CUS board in his loving memory. Jennifer lives in Dewitt, NY with her husband and two sons.

  • Leo Zerilli

    BOARD MEMBER

    Leo, and his wife Kristen, split their time between Gloucester, MA and Toronto, Canada. He has significant global financial services expertise built over more than 25 years in the wealth and asset management industry. He received his B.A. from Colgate University and earned an M.B.A. from Boston University. Leo is honored to serve on the board of the CUS Foundation in memory of his cousin, Tom Cusumano.
